After we first moved (yes, I promise to post my really bad pics of the new house soon!), Andrew found my bin of cookie cutters. Since I had been monster mom for weeks due to the stress of moving, I agreed that we could make cookies. When I looked up the recipe for sugar cookies in my BHG cookbook, I saw an option called "Cookie Pizza."
While I desperately wanted to be a "good mom" to Andrew and let him make cookies, I really did not want to make a disaster in the kitchen, which would add to the disastrous state that the newly moved into house already was!
So, I talked him into making the cookie pizza by explaining that after we slathered it with frosting dyed blue (our favorite color), he and Corinne could cover it with sprinkles until their hearts were content.
Or atleast, until the sprinkles I poured into the little bowls ran out.
In the car today, Andrew was playing with a couple of GI Joe men. That fact alone makes him seem so much older than a four year old.
Then he asked me, "Mom, can you put this GI Joe guy's leg back on?"
Something about putting the leg back on an action figure made me feel like a "real" mom. Sometimes I just feel like the babysitter or the personal chef or the teacher or the janitor.
But not today.
Today I did surgery on GI Joe.
I was a "real" mom.
*Sorry about the lack of posts. When we got back from vacation the beginning of July, our computer crashed. Now we're back up and running, but missing lots of pictures. They are somewhere, I just don't know where yet...
No, I'm not talking about casting your line and reeling it back in.
I'm talking about these two guys:
When Andrew was little and we noticed he would be a musical prodigy, Pops and Caro introduced us to this unique duo that sings mostly family friendly, silly music. We love them!
Recently, they treated Andrew, Clark, and me to a concert at the Dallas Children's Theater. The theater is so small and intimate, it almost felt like a personal concert. Not only was it fun to listen to Keith and Ezra, but it was so enjoyable watching all the kids getting into the music and dancing.
